Sampo Bank restructured its organisation in order to serve its customers better. The straightforward management model emphasises branches and regions. The operating organisation corresponds to Danske Bank's functional structure. A shared operating model provides a better framework for high-quality, flexible and profitable banking.

Sampo Bank's top management is based in Helsinki. The country-specific functions managed from Helsinki also include business development, HR management, asset management, communications, financing, legal affairs and credit risk management.

Top management consists of Managing Director Ilkka Hallavo and Deputy Managing Director Risto Tornivaara, who is responsible for business development. Managing Director Ilkka Hallavo is also a member of Danske Bank Group's executive committee.

Finance centres

Sampo Bank's business is divided into six regional finance centres: Helsinki, Uusimaa, Western Finland, Central Finland, Eastern Finland and Northern Finland. The most demanding functions such as Private Bank, cash management and investment services are concentrated in the finance centres. The finance centres are also responsible for major corporate customers.

Each region has an Area Manager. The regions have their own management groups that also include the directors of the private and corporate customer businesses. Branch managers report to their Area Manager.

Branch network

Sampo Bank currently has 121 branches. The northernmost branch is located in Sodankylä.

Private Bank

In the current organisation, Sampo Bank Private Bank operates as a part of Sampo Bank under the finance centres in Helsinki, Espoo, Turku, Tampere, Oulu, Lahti, Jyväskylä, Vaasa, Kouvola, Hämeenlinna, Salo and Pori. The Private Bank will continue to specialise in providing demanding and comprehensive asset management and banking services for private persons, institutions and enterprises.

Danske Markets

Danske Markets is responsible for operations in the financial markets, such as foreign exchange trading, stock brokerage and advisory services across Europe and the Nordic countries. Operations in Finland are managed by Sampsa Laine.

Danske Capital Finland

Danske Capital Asset Management is responsible for Sampo Bank's actual investment operations and mutual funds. It also serves institutional customers. Asset Management is responsible for research and investment strategy. The unit is managed by Antti Urvas. The international Alpha East team specialising in Eastern European investments is managed from Finland.

Wealth Management is responsible for supporting the branches by providing the best available asset management services and products. Private Bank customers are an important target group for Wealth Management. The unit is managed by Kimmo Laaksonen.

Service centre and CIB

In accordance with the Danske Banking concept, functions such as IT services, Contact Centre, product development and logistics are centralised in service centres. The service centre in Finland is managed by Tapani Koskinen.

The Corporate and Institutional Banking unit (CIB) serves major customers by providing banking and financial services ranging from payment traffic to financing arrangements for complex mergers and acquisitions. The customers include large enterprises as well as institutions. The CIB is managed by Pekka Vataja.
