Sampo Bank is a part of Danske Bank Group.
In addition to Finland, Danske Bank's home market area includes Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ireland and Northern Ireland. The banking group also operates in Great Britain, Germany, Poland, Luxembourg and Russia.
Sampo Bank currently has more than 1.1 million personal customers and approximately 100,000 corporate and institutional customers in Finland. The current number of branches is 121.
Sampo Bank becomes a part of Danske Bank Group in 2007
In November 2006 the Danish company Danske Bank A/S announced its acquisition of Sampo Bank from Sampo plc. The acquisition was confirmed in February 2007 after the required official permits were obtained.
Through the acquisition, all companies belonging to Sampo Bank Group, such as the Finnish bank Sampo Bank plc, its subsidiary banks in the Baltic States and Russia, as well as several investment service companies, formerly known Mandatum Asset Management Ltd, Sampo Fund Management Ltd, Mandatum & Co Ltd and Mandatum Stockbrokers Ltd became parts of the Danske Bank Group.
After the merger, Danske Bank Group became one of the largest banking groups in Northern Europe. Sampo Bank is the third largest bank in Finland and now has even better resources for making history in the future.
