Installing Java Runtime software –  Windows Vista, Mozilla Firefox

Note! The installation stages may differ from these instructions because of the firewall and other software used on your computer.

  1. Enter ‘www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp’ in the address bar. Select the offline installation suitable for your operating system by clicking the arrow inside a circle on the correct selection.
  2. Click the ‘Save file’ button in the ‘Download file’ window.
  3. Downloading will start. You can see the destination of the installation package at the bottom of the ‘Downloads’ window. The default location is the Desktop.
  4. Once the downloading is complete, close Mozilla Firefox and all of its windows.
  5. Go to the Desktop and open the Java installation package by double-clicking the Java icon.
  6. At the first stages of installation, Windows Vista may request a permission to open the installation package. Make sure that the publisher is Sun Microsystems Inc. and click the ’Run’ button in the ‘Open file – Security warning’ window.
  7. Next, Windows Vista may require permission to continue. Make sure that the program is Java installation and click the ‘Continue’ button in the ‘User account control’ window.
  8. The installation will begin.
  9. At the first stage of Java installation, you can check the Sun Microsystems licence for the Java software. To continue the installation, click the ‘Accept’ button.
  10. If the installation offers the ’Google Toolbar’ program, you do not need to install it because it is not required by eBanking. Remove the selection from ‘Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer’ and click the ‘Next’ button.
  11. File copying will begin. Wait for it to be completed. The duration depends on the speed of your computer. You can follow the progress of the installation from the green moving bar. Generally, the installation will take a few minutes.
  12. When ‘Thank You!’ text appears on the screen the installation is complete and you can close it by clicking the ’Finish’ button.
  13. Java will be operational by restarting your Internet browser.
  14. Check your computer’s Java version at www.sampopankki.fi/selaimet.
  15. After checking the Java version, delete the Java installation package from your Desktop. You can delete the package by right-clicking the icon and clicking the ‘Delete’ selection in the opening drop-down menu.
  16. Click the ‘Yes’ button in the ‘Delete file’ window.
  17. You do not need to launch Java separately. It will always be operational when logging in to eBanking. If there are any Java updates, Java will notify of any updates available for downloading. We recommend that you always use the latest Java version.
