Security in Sampo Bank eBanking and Business Online

The security in Sampo Bank’s online banking systems is based on international cryptographic standards and is secured in several ways, for instance:

• Bank identifiers with two-factor authentication
• Concealed communication between your computer and the bank’s servers through SSL encryption.
• Encryption, digital signatures, secure session and more through dedicated client software in Java.
• Digital signature with personal certificates

The bank identifiers consist of a user ID, a password and a security card. At logon, you enter the user ID and your password, and you are prompted for a security number from your security card. This guarantees that unauthorised people cannot log on, even if you loose one part of your bank identifiers. However, if you loose (parts of) your bank identifiers, you must block your bank identifiers immediately in order to minimise the risk of misuse.

When you log on our client software generates a set of keys for digital signature and the session is secured. This security model allows for signing payments and other transactions with your password only, without compromising on security.
